AACIO YOUNG INVESTIGATOR AWARDS (YIA)
The American Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin (AACIO) announces four Young Investigator Awards in Cardiovascular Disease for trainees of Indian subcontinent origin. The awards are given at their dinner meetings organized by a local society/association in March and November of each year.
Four awards named Dr. Krishna Ramaswamy, Dr. Madhukar Deshmukh, Prof. Kul Aggarwal and Dr. Kishore Harjai Family Young Investigator Awards are conferred for best abstracts during the March meeting. At the November meeting, three awards excluding the Kishore Harjai family Award are presented. Each awardee receives a special prize of $1.000 and a certificate. In addition to this, a number of Special Awards are also conferred by the selection committee during each meeting with each awardee receiving $500 plus a certificate.
The November 2026 meeting will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2026, 5:00-10:00 p.m. (with dinner, Indian cuisine, expected at 8.30 pm), Venue West, 221 N. Paulina St., Paulina and Walnut St., Chicago, IL 60612, Phone: 312-284-8106. Attendance and dinner are complimentary for all awardees, their friends and colleagues. The venue is about 15-20 minutes driving from downtown Chicago and parking is free.
Deadline for abstract submission: Sunday, October 4, 2026. Winners will be announced within one week of the abstract deadline.
Awardees will need to be available in person, November 8, 2026, by 5:00 p.m. to give their Power Point Presentation to the audiovisual person and remain to present their abstract until at least 8:30 p.m. when all abstract presentations are expected to be completed during the AACIO Inhouse Meeting.
Abstract Guidelines IMPORTANT
1. Assign one of the following categories to your abstract and place at the top above the abstract title: Basic Science, Clinical Cardiology/Imaging, Interventional/EP Cardiology
2. Maximum 2 abstracts per author.
3. The following will not be considered for the AACIO Young Investigator Awards (YIA): a) Abstracts from previous Awardees, b) Abstracts already presented or accepted for presentation either for oral presentation or poster presentation in any scientific or AACIO meeting, c) Abstracts already published (in part or as a full manuscript) or accepted for publication before the submission date of October 5, 2026. Please include a statement indicating this is true/correct for each abstract.
4. First authors must be a) Resident/Trainee/Fellow in medicine, cardiology or cardiology related field or b) have a research position in cardiology or related field or c) if a faculty, must have completed their Residency or Fellowship program within 5 years of submission. Include the contact information for the submitting author in the email message; do not include on the abstract.
5. Abstract format: The total length of each abstract including the Title, Authors and Abstract content is one page. The abstract may go to a second page only to accommodate any graphs/charts/figures. Abstract should contain the Title of the Abstract followed by the names and primary degrees of all authors (underline the submitting author’s name) and their affiliation(s), then a blank line followed by the abstract. Abstracts not submitted in this format will be returned for correction or rejected.
