History

The American Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin (AACIO) was founded in 1986 by Navin C. Nanda, MD, FACC, along with 14 dedicated medical professionals. They recognized the need to address the disproportionate impact of cardiovascular disease on Indian Americans and envisioned an organization that would bring together healthcare professionals, lay individuals, corporate members, and institutions to tackle this critical issue.

Dr. Navin C. Nanda served as the founding president of AACIO and currently chairs the Board of Directors. Under his leadership, the organization has grown to over 500 members, including healthcare professionals, lay individuals, corporate members, and institutional members.
